What is an invoice?
An invoice is a commercial document a seller sends to a buyer, requesting payment for goods or services already delivered. It lists what was provided, at what price, and by when payment is expected.
Invoice vs Quote vs Receipt
A quote is sent before work begins, as an estimate the client can accept or negotiate. An invoice is sent after (or during) the work, requesting payment. A receipt is issued after payment has been received, confirming the transaction is complete.
What are payment terms?
Payment terms tell your client when payment is due. Due on receipt means immediately. Net 15, Net 30 and Net 60 mean payment is due 15, 30 or 60 days after the invoice date. You can also set a custom due date.
